Day of the Dead
Today, in Mexican culture, Dia de los Muertos is celebrated. This annual holiday is celebrated internationally, and honors the life of loved ones who have passed away. Typical celebrations during November 1st and 2nd include visiting relatives, visiting the gravesite, prayers, and stories of those who died. It was meant to guide the spirit of loved ones in the afterlife. That’s why they also make elaborately decorated altars (called ofrendas) in their homes to welcome the spirits.
