Lower Elementary

Students aged 6 to 9 build strong academic foundations, confidence, and independence through an authentic Montessori curriculum in Davie. In a collaborative mixed-age environment, children learn at their own pace, make meaningful choices, and grow in social awareness, responsibility, and leadership through shared community roles.

Our curriculum

Lower Elementary curriculum for Grades 1 - 3 is centered on reason, relationships, and community. In a collaborative Montessori setting, students make choices, work at their own pace, and build confidence through new challenges. Guided by the teacher, each child is supported in reaching their individual potential through an authentic Montessori method school approach.

Language

Building confident readers, writers, and communicators

Students develop reading, writing, grammar, spelling, handwriting, and vocabulary through a structured Montessori language program. They strengthen comprehension, sentence analysis, creative writing, research, and word study while learning to communicate ideas with clarity, confidence, and increasing independence.

Language

Mathematics

From hands-on discovery to abstract understanding

Children build a strong mathematical foundation through concrete materials and guided practice in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, measurement, time, money, and problem-solving. As their understanding grows, they move into more advanced work with multiples, divisors, powers, square roots, and early algebraic thinking.

Mathematics

Geometry

Exploring form, measurement, and spatial relationships through hands-on discovery

Through hands-on Montessori materials, students explore lines, angles, polygons, triangles, area, and geometric classification. They develop spatial reasoning and visual understanding while studying equivalence, similarity, congruency, and measurement.

Geometry

Science

Exploring life, matter, and the natural world

Students investigate botany, zoology, plant and animal classification, rocks, chemistry, and atomic structure through observation, classification, and experiments. This approach nurtures curiosity, scientific thinking, and a deeper understanding of the living world and the physical universe.

Science

Social Studies

Understanding geography, history, and human development

Children explore maps, continents, countries, capitals, flags, civic responsibility, and key moments in human history through research and hands-on materials. As they connect geography with the story of human development, they build cultural awareness and a broader understanding of people, place, and time.

This enriched learning experience reflects the strength of our Montessori curriculum in Davie.

Joanna Kopicki

As both a Montessori teacher and a Montessori mother, I have the unique privilege of experiencing this philosophy from two deeply meaningful perspectives.
