Journalism program

Summit-Questa’s Middle School journalism program gives students a dynamic platform to develop their skills in writing, broadcasting and communication. The program has earned state and national recognition, including 12 awards in 2025 alone, with recognition from the Journalism Education Association and the Florida Scholastic Press Association.

Through award-winning work, a partnership with Nova Southeastern University and a dedicated summer journalism boot camp, students strengthen creativity, leadership and self-expression while preparing for future academic and personal opportunities.

Montessori Model United Nations

Students expand their perspective through experiences that build critical thinking, respectful dialogue, and civic awareness. In the Montessori Model United Nations, they represent different countries, research global issues, and collaborate to propose solutions to real-world challenges.

Opportunities such as Mock Trial and educational travel further develop public speaking, teamwork, argumentation, independence, and an understanding of civic processes. These experiences help students become informed, compassionate, and engaged citizens.

National Junior Honor Society

Leadership is developed through daily responsibility, peer collaboration, and service to others. The National Junior Honor Society recognizes students who demonstrate scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship, encouraging them to contribute meaningfully to school life and the wider community.

In Middle School, students also mentor younger children, support community service activities, and take part in practical school responsibilities. These experiences strengthen integrity, teamwork, compassion, and a sense of shared responsibility.

Sustainability and civic engagement

Hands-on learning is central to the Summit-Questa experience. From Early Childhood through Middle School, students help care for campus vegetable gardens by planting, monitoring, and harvesting produce, often eating what they grow. This connects sustainability, nutrition, patience, and environmental responsibility in a practical and memorable way.

As students progress, practical life skills become more advanced. From Grade 4, Market Day gives students the opportunity to create and run their own businesses, developing creativity, planning, financial literacy, marketing, and customer service skills. In Middle School, students take on greater leadership and service roles, including contributing to practical school operations such as lunch delivery.

Daniel Harper

I think the biggest thing I took away from Questa was the interests I sparked there and clung onto in high school.

From our journalism class, I gained a realization about my passion for writing and reporting. Today, I’m still writing for my high school newspaper.

Being a student at Questa has been such a special experience for me.

I love how the teachers really take the time to understand each student and help us learn in our own way.The campus is beautiful, and I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s working on the farm or participating in sports and art activities.

Being part of our middle school community, I’ve seen how intentional and meaningful the culture is.

We support students’ academic and social growth while also shaping them into compassionate individuals. Teachers truly care, hold high expectations, and create a family-like environment where every student is seen, valued, and encouraged to grow as both learners and people.
